ALABAMA TRIATHELETES
Basic Information:
Alabama Triathletes is a co-ed sport club whose goal is to promote the sport of triathlon and a healthy lifestyle to the students of The University of Alabama and the Tuscaloosa community. Triathlon is a sport that includes swimming, cycling, and running combined in one event. Members of Alabama Triathletes not only train and compete in triathlons, but also open running, cycling, and swimming competitions. In addition, members may also train and compete in duathlons (run and cycle), aquabikes (swim and cycle), or any combination of multi-sport events.
The University of Alabama will host the 2008 USAT Collegiate National Championships on April 19, 2008. This race will consist of 1000 athletes from 160 universities across the country. As of the current season, Alabama Triathletes are ranked #1 in the SECTC (Southeastern Collegiate Triathlon Conference) and will hopefully win the point series for 2007/2008. Additional races in the Spring of 2008 include the Rebel Man Triathlon on the campus of Ole Miss, and The Red Hills Triathlon in Tallahassee.
